Before you jump into buying that cute little bird you saw once or heard about, it is well worth your time to research it. Some birds are more difficult to handle than others. The worst thing that can happen is to find out you made a really big mistake, both for you and the bird. Most birds end up with at least 2 homes in their lives either due to longevity (outliving their owners) or owners who have taken on much more than they ever thought possible. Changing homes is very difficult for a bird. Probably more than any other pet. There are things that one would never know at decision time, but there are things that one should know. What we can't know is what our lives will be like 1,5,10 years down the road. We could have different jobs, different work hours, changes in family life. What one can know is typical behaviors and needs of these precious birds. It is a responsibility to know, understand, and evaluate. Impulse decisions should be avoided at all cost.
